Fact Sheet
Walking through the
halls of the School for Creative and Performing Arts is much different
than what you'd expect from a typical public school. The music you hear
filtering through the school is live - probably choral or instrumental rehearsal
for an upcoming performance. Down the hall, a dance classroom is filled
with students perfecting plies. Later that same day, they'll be honing their
math skills for the upcoming Advanced Placement Calculus exam.
Holistic Learning for a Well-rounded Student
Set design and mathematics, drama and science, piano practice and social studies. All the courses of arts and academics are intertwined to offer students a holistic, well-rounded education where they can excel in careers that range from creative performance to professional business. Here, students use math to measure and cut a costume pattern in the sewing lab. Language Arts fundamentals find their way into a new script. And science becomes real in the photo lab. Creative and academic energy spills through the open doorways.
It's all part of a unique learning environment where a blend of emphasis on the academic and the artistic challenges students to achieve their personal best.
