Building the Dream Together - The New School for Creative & Performing Arts
The Stage is Set

An extraordinary public school for the arts will soon arise at foot of Washington Park in Over the Rhine. It will provide a new home for the School for Creative & Performing Arts (SCPA) and Schiel Primary School for Arts Enrichment. Within sight of the school will be Cincinnati's beloved Music Hall, one of the oldest and most revered performance venues in the world. This location will further strengthen the link between arts and education.

A Masterpiece Begins to Take Shape

This new school will be the nation's first K-12 public school devoted to the arts. To ensure a first-class facility, it is being built with a partnership between Cincinnati Public Schools, the Ohio School Facilities Commission and private citizens who care about the arts, education and Cincinnati.

Students at the new school will come to class in a state-of-the-art building tailored to fulfill their academic requirements and artistic ambitions.

With 1350 students and approximately 250,000 square feet, there will be wonderful space for every student to think and learn, practice and perform. Planning and conceptual designs are well underway with the intention to open the school during the 2008-2009 school year.

Rejuvenating the Heart

The new SCPA will be a catalyst for revitalizing Cincinnati's urban heart. This project represents not only a multi-million dollar capital infusion but it also creates the cornerstone of a vibrant arts and culture district. And the doors will be open to ensure the surrounding neighborhood and the entire community will have access to, and derive pleasure from the arts. Working with Cincinnati City Center Development Corporation and many arts, community and neighborhood organizations, this school will truly belong to everyone.

The Time is Now

Fundraising continues to provide a state-of-the-art masterpiece and to establish ongoing funding for excellence.
