Media Arts

The Media Arts program at SCPA is designed for students who want to explore the creative and technical side of digital storytelling. Offered only as a double major, Media Arts must be paired with Dance, Drama, Creative Writing, Instrumental Music, Technical Theatre, Visual Art, or Vocal Music. Admission is by audition.

As a Career Technical Education (CTE) program, Media Arts provides hands-on training in the production of visual and audio content across multiple platforms, including film, video, photography, design, motion graphics, animation, and sound design. Students work with industry-standard tools and techniques to develop the skills needed to tell compelling stories, communicate ideas, and engage audiences in today’s media-driven world.

The flexible curriculum offers six high school courses, which students may take in any order. Four of these courses overlap with Performing Arts or Visual Arts majors, making it easy for students to connect their studies across disciplines and broaden their creative experiences.

Students also have the opportunity to earn industry-recognized Adobe certifications in After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro, preparing them for college programs and careers in the creative industries.

The Media Arts program does not have an Arts Proficiency Exam (Boards).
