Auditions
All incoming 7th-12th grade students interested in attending SCPA must complete an artistic audition.

Criteria Auditions
- Artistic talent is evaluated by SCPA artistic faculty members.
- Demonstration of artistic talent and ability in visual art for the corresponding grade level.
- Demonstration of exemplary school behavior, discipline, and attendance at the applicant’s current and former schools.
- Demonstration of a positive and enthusiastic attitude toward learning and an ability to work cooperatively with others.

Visual Arts Portfolio Requirements:
- Include 6-8 works of art from the last two years
- Work should demonstrate various techniques, including drawing/painting from observation, design, creative work, color work, and sketchbook drawings.
- Small sculptures may be carefully packaged and brought in; otherwise, take quality pictures from multiple vantage points.
Visual Arts Resume
- Include name, age, address, phone numbers, parent e-mail, school attendance, extra-curricular activities, classes and workshops, awards, exhibitions, and special interests/talents. Resumes are in outline form and must not exceed one page.
In-person Audition process
Students will complete one observational still-life drawing and one creative exercise during their in-person audition. The Visual Arts department will provide materials for this.
Acceptable Audition Artwork
All work should demonstrate student’s ability to translate lines, shapes, forms, texture, space, perspective, and proportion into a composition utilizing a strong grasp of craftsmanship. Traced work is not acceptable.
