Annual Appeal Newsletter

January 10, 2018

Dear SCPA Supporter,

Thank you for being a part of the School for the Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA) family. Donors like you create an unparalleled arts and academic learning environment for our students.

SCPA is the only K-12 school in the nation to provide both an arts and academic education. We have more than 1400+ economically and ethnically diverse students from across the region. Our graduating students lead and perform.

We are a magnet school within the Cincinnati Public School (CPS) district and are very proud that three of our leaders are SCPA graduates: our new CPS Superintendent of Schools, Laura Mitchell (’87), Artistic Director, Angela Powell Walker (‘86), and SCPA Principal, Michael Owens (‘88). We are even prouder of our success in graduating seniors. Although the national graduation rate stands at 75%, SCPA has achieved a graduation rate of 100% for the past two years.

The future is bright for our students, but we need your help. Running a world-class artistic and academic school requires more funding than we receive from the school district. In fact, we need to raise $500,000 per year, an annual gap of $357 per student.  This Annual Appeal helps to address this need.

Your generous support provides necessary resources for our students such as musical instruments, art supplies, carpentry material and welding tools to build sets. In addition, it provides access to private lessons which allow students to reach their fullest potential and make a lasting impact in our community.

We invite you to learn more about SCPA through the stories of three high school students: Frances Timberlake, Joshua Cook, and Kealy Welage.  These three young artists share their stories, personal challenges, and triumphs that helped them to explore their love for the arts at SCPA.
