Still hungry? Check out SCPA’s recent production of “Little Shop of Horrors” (see video/photos below). The Fall Musical is SCPA’s major production of the year. Notable for the extensive production that is all-student design, execution and implementation, “Little Shop” is the second production under the highly experienced “eyes” of Artistic Director, Angela Powell Walker, and, like last year’s, “Hairspray”, is another example of SCPA’s “taking it to another level”. With the assistance of local funders, including ArtsWave, SCPA’s talented Technical Theatre Dept. constructed a massive turntable for the Corbett Theater that was unveiled during “Little Shop”. Again, constructed by students with oversight from SCPA Technical Director, Brad Gerard, the new turntable increases the capacity of the school to perform increasingly complex theatre sets (think, “Les Miz”) and to offer the newly equipped theatre to additional renters who are looking for this kind of capability. On a sad note, SCPA Orchestra Director, Brian Siekmann, lost his father, Don Siekmann, just days before opening. Brian passed the “baton” to Rick Hand, SCPA’s Director of Instrumental Music, who handled the duties with the high professionalism the school is known for.
