Educational Theater Foundation Accepting Applications for the Pathway Grant

Aiken Theatre students with Broadway actorThe Educational Theater Foundation is now accepting applications for the Pathway Grant! The grant seeks to create opportunities for students to work with industry professionals of color while performing a piece that encourages dialogue around racial equity.

Aiken High School was one of two high schools in the nation to pilot the grant program this school year. Through the grant, they received $10,000 to produce Disney's Aladdin, Jr., donated licensing fees from Music Theatre International, mentorship from Emmy-Award winner Piper Davis and a special guest visit from Broadway actor Micheal James Scott. 

The 2022-23 Pathway Grant will award five $10,000 grants for high schools to put on a musical or play that encourages dialogue around issues of race and racial equity. Funds should be used to hire a professional director, choreographer, and/or technical expert of color to act as mentors to students, building relationships and casting vision for potential career pathways.
