Principal, School For Creative & Performing Arts

Morgan Makinen is honored to serve as the Interim Principal of the School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA). She is entering her ninth year with Cincinnati Public Schools and is passionate about creating a school culture where every student feels known, valued, and inspired to reach their full potential.
Morgan grew up in Wisconsin, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. During her final year of college, she realized her passion was in education and joined Teach For America. This opportunity brought Morgan to Cincinnati, where she began teaching upper elementary English Language Arts at Rockdale Academy. Her interest in Montessori education led her to Pleasant Ridge Montessori, where she continued teaching English while serving as an Ohio Resident Educator Mentor before becoming Assistant Principal at Clark Montessori. While teaching, Morgan earned her Master's in Curriculum and Instruction in 2020 and later her Master of Education in Educational Leadership in 2023.
When she is not working, Morgan enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and staying active. She is excited to partner with the students, staff and families of SCPA to support every success and celebrate the creativity, talent, and unique spirit that make the school community so special.
