MORE

MORE Group PhotoMORE (Men, Organized, Respectful, & Educated) is a Cincinnati Public Schools created a program for young men in grades 4th-12th.  The Purpose of the program is to nurture academic success and strong character amongst young men in our school. Our goals are to strategically support and promote measurable improvements in Academic achievement, Promotion rates, Graduation Rates, and College readiness.

The School for Creative and Performing Arts has 3 MORE programs for the following grade levels:

The MORE programs are unique to each school and the program at SCPA is no different. Most young men enrolled in the 7-12 MORE program were recommended by their teachers based on those students that either showed potential or needed to improve in the areas of MORE. MORE students are set to a higher standard at SCPA. Students not only dress up in custom shirts and ties each Monday; they also meet twice a week and learn lessons on various topics, like resume building, conflict resolution, and what it means to be a leader. Students also learn to be academically responsible as they can not receive any failing grades in order to participate in the program. MORE Students undergo grade checks so that students are aware of what their grades look like at all times. These young men are also socially responsible as they are student ambassadors for SCPA and to each other in brotherhood.

Our approach will be greater than academics, as we will focus on developing a strong character that will benefit young men throughout their lives. Content will include:

  • Academic support
  • Social skills development
  • College and career awareness
  • Financial literacy
  • Good citizenship
  • Health and wellness
  • Community Service

Over the past year, students involved with the SCPA MORE program have been invited to tour new exhibits at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, Gone on a college tour of The University of Cincinnati and met with UC Basketball Players after a bearcats game, and students also got to Participate in the schools Black History Month Show!
